Estrogen Receptor Imaging in Breast Cancer Patients using PET/CT
Sponsored by the SNMMI-TS
Organizers: Tammy Pritchett, CNMT
Moderators: Kathleen M. Krisak, BS, CNMT, FSNMMI-TS

This presentation will discuss breast cancer and metastatic breast cancer statistics.  Discuss where there is currently an unmet need in the breast cancer patient population.  Learn about tumor heterogeneity in metastatic breast cancer.  This presentation will describe some of the clinical dilemmas with treating and imaging patients with metastatic disease in breast cancers. Learn about estrogen receptor imaging with a novel biomarker to assess underlying biology and biochemistry. Participants will learn about the role of PET/CT for staging, treatment and follow up in metastatic breast cancer patients using Fluoroestradiol F18. Participants will learn the correct dosage, correct route of administration, indication limits and safety of Fluoroestradiol F18.  We will analyze clinical cases and restate the imaging needs of referring physicians.

Objectives

  • Describe some of the clinical dilemmas in treating metastatic disease in breast cancers
  • Explain the role of PET/CT Estrogen Receptor Imaging for staging, treatment and follow up in metastatic Cancer
  • Discuss the correct dosage, patient preparation – administration/dose injection procedure, indication and usage (including limitations), and safety of isotope
